This August, our youth once again participated in our “Five Great Days of Service,” an annual mission event in which they stay at the church and each day participate in local service projects. This year we had seven youth participate, and they served at Our Father’s Food Pantry and Diaper Bank of the Triad. The trip also included a surprise trip to the beach, where they served at Trinity Grove and First Fruits Ministries. By the end of the week, more than 6,000 diapers had been packed and sent out to help over 120 babies, dozens of residents at the retirement home had been met and played games with, and countless homeless people had been fed.
But, of course, the outreach is only part of the transformation. The week was also an opportunity to grow closer to God and one another. Through their time together, from working side by side during the day to evening devotions at night, they experienced firsthand the power of relationship. By the end of the week, everyone was tired, but also filled – with joy, thanksgiving, and God’s Spirit. It was the highlight of the summer, and we are so grateful to the Linda Kaelke Fund for helping to make this week possible!
